The settings allow you to change a lot of things, which allowed for lots and lots of customization. The pressure was too soft and I didn’t get much variation, but it was an easy fix. One thing to mention is that the preset pressure settings had to be tweaked a bit. The preset brushes are really nice and I really like them. I had to edit the brushes a bit to suit my own style but it was fine.

The brushes also feel like brushes on the pc which is somehow unlike Procreate which somehow doesn’t really feel like pc brushes (they kinda d their own thing).

The fact that this actually resized the brush by pixels made me more happy than I should’ve been. Which is really frustrating at times when lining an image. The thing is, it doesn’t go by pixels which is what art programs like CSP or PS do. In Procreate, they have this slider to resize your brush which is not a big deal, but it goes by percents and changes to the slightest touch. One thing that I was probably more happy than I should have been about, was how you resized the brushes. Nonetheless I find it to be very useful especially if you want to transition from using PS on the pc to drawing on the iPad. I’ve not really used PS much and it’s not one of my favorite art programs (mostly bc it killed my pc’s speed). Right off the bat, the brushes reminded me of Photoshop brushes (mostly everything about this app does). Toying with the tools, the lasso too has pretty much the same function as the lasso tool in Procreate, s that’s great. It’s not important, but it’s something I have to nitpick about. Most things have to load and there not much of an animation to selecting a new tool (Procreate has its little icons do a small jump when you select a tool and I think that’s really neat).

A downside however was that I found the app to be somewhat clunky? Don’t now how to deceive it but it’s not as sleek or as “jumpy” as Procreate.

Everything was easy to navigate and didn’t require me to look up any tutorials. I feel like Artstudio is a mashup between the two with also Photoshop functions thrown into the mix. I also liked Procreate for its simplicity, however, it lacked some of the functions that I loved in CSP EX (ahem like a working auto select ahem). I always liked MediBang Paint on iOS because it is very similar to the pc version and other programs on the pc, but always hated that it is cluttered at times. The layers and brushes were hidden away as pop ups along with other things like the color wheel and adjustments. I always liked as much space to work on as possible, so that was a nice thing. The interface has everything on it wit it being too cluttered. The app was quick and quickly gave me a starting canvas to work with. So without further ado, let’s get started! This review is more so coming from a person who mainly does cartoons, so if you’re looking whether it’s a good app for painting I won’t be able to help much, sorry TwT.

I’ll only be covering the iOS version and will be comparing it to Procreate (a way more popular art app that most people are familiar with) and pc art programs. I really wanted to try it the app since I heard great things about it.
